Is mindlog · id really free? ＋
Yes. The public page, encrypted messaging, agenda and P2P calls are free forever. Premium adds creator features (third-party storage, custom cover, members-only pages) for €1/month.
Can I self-host mindlog · id? ＋
Yes, the source code is under the AGPLv3 license. You can deploy your own instance freely — subject to AGPLv3 obligations (source disclosure if you offer the service over a network).
What does AGPLv3 mean in practice? ＋
If you distribute the software or offer it as a networked service, you must make the corresponding source code available (including your modifications) under the same license. For private or internal use, there is no publication obligation.
Is my data locked in? ＋
No. You can export your data at any time, delete your account in one click, or deploy your own instance. The code is fully open.

Why a commercial licence?
AGPLv3 is a strong copyleft licence: if you distribute the software or offer it as a networked service, you must provide the corresponding source code (including your modifications) under the same licence. If your model requires keeping your changes private or embedding mindlog into a proprietary offering, the commercial licence waives that.
